Halflings
A quiet and cheery people, they wander to wherever they may find
access to open land. Never taking without permission, bands of
halflings will arrive in a region and will petition the local
authorities for the lands they desire. If successful, they will
settle and make homes for themselves, providing an additional
opportunity for trade to the locals. They are not always welcomed,
however, and when they are turned away, either at the time they first
petition, or later when the locals find need of the lands settled by
the halflings, they move on without argument. With this roving
nature, many have come to expect halflings to be full of stories from
their trails. It is not uncommon for a band of halflings to have in
their company a handful of bards, and it is quite often these bards
who negotiate any settlement agreements.
They are industrious without being innovative. They learn to use
whatever tools are available to them and are diligent in all they set
themselves to. Humans have discovered halflings who had been left
alone for some hundreds of years, and were still using the same types
of tools and methods from that era. That same group, however, learned
the modern techniques and tools quickly and adapted without
difficulty.
Halfelf
Looked down upon by elves and uncomfortalby envied by humans,
halfelfs exist in an awkward spot between the two races. Few in
number, they tend to live wherever they can attract the least amount
of unwanted attention while still making a living. They have no
nation to call their own and so are often left to wander in times of
crisis. The notable exception to this is the city of Grethe in the
nation of Rayshaun where almost half of the population is halfelves.
Dragonborn and Teifling
Born from a union between a mortal and an immortal, both are viewed
with suspicion and awe. Little is known of dragons besides their
power to devastate entire cities, and sometimes nations, and the
fiends from whom the tielfings were spawned are even more feared. And
yet, most people know that those unions took place many generations
ago and that the dragonborn and tieflings of today have just as much
a connect to their draconic or infernal heritage as anyone else.
Their numbers are too few to form a nation all their own, but it is
assumed by many that they eventually will develop into their own
people, with their own lands. In the mean time, the other races
tolerate their growing presence. Following the War of Discovery, many
dragonborn and tieflings found peace in the Nomad Lands and have
since begun to prosper there, leading many to believe that the Nomad
Lands may soon become a real nation, ruled not by one race, but by
two.
