Dwarfs

Few cities, above or below ground, have been shaped without dwarf engineers, stonemasons, or metallurgists. They are the true builders of nations and have, through their sturdy designs, paved the way for the nations to live in relative peace (no one wants to attack a city with dwarf fortification). Though their natural place is below ground, dwarfs have no problems with journeying, working, or even occasionally living above ground. They are a pragmatic people, willing to do what must be done.
In addition to their architectural prowess, the dwarfs have turned stone carving and metalworking into revered art forms among all races. Elves, gnomes, and humans will vie for the privilege of having a renowned dwarf master come and ornament their cities with sculptures, statues, reliefs, inlays, and anything else they can think of before the master is taken away to some other nation. Though rarely will a master dwarf leave a job unfinished, it is not uncommon for a nation to seek to keep the dwarf from working in the other nations lest they lose the prestige of being the only ones with cities adorned by “_______” the master dwarf.
For the dwarfs, the honor of being so highly sought after goes not to themselves, but to their Low King, and from the Low King to Moradin, through whom all the blessings and gifts and talents are dispensed.
